Dear Richard,

In the month of April, ENF was recognized for our much needed services and programs.  We extended our Family Resource Center hours and expanded our Knitting Program at Rady Children's Hospital to two days.  We are grateful and appreciative for our association with Rady Children's Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House.
CECO Awards 2009 ANNUAL CECO AWARDS

Since 1956 the County Employees' Charitable Organization (CECO) has served as the charitable arm of County employees, providing grant funding to local non-profit groups and community service entities. CECO is an entirely employee-directed and employee-managed organization that collects donations and determines award recipients.

Every year, CECO recognizes the efforts of local non-profit groups that provide services in support of the community throughout San Diego County.  This year the Emilio Nares Foundation was honored as one of CECO's chosen award recipients.

Thank you CECO for your big heart!

The Rock n Roll Marathon is one of the most important fundraising events for ENF.  As important as this event is for the foundation, it means so much more to  Richard Nares, founder and Executive Director of the Emilio Nares Foundation. This year marks Richard's 6th time running the San Diego Rock 'N' Roll Marathon. With a successful run, he is confident he'll earn his ticket to the Boston Marathon, the place where Emilio, Diane, and Richard fought a courageous battle for survival against Leukemia.

It's been nearly nine years since they all watched the runners pass by Emilio's hospital. Memories that will never cease, for in those few fleeting moments the three of them shared the togetherness that will last them a lifetime. Richard relives those moments constantly. At the time, it never entered their minds that God would allow fate to take the center of their universe, their only child, away from them. But it did.

Though it will be just the two of them  returning to Boston, both know that their precious angel will be pushing Richard along the route with resounding encouragement, as he always did, and cheering...  "faster! Daddy, faster!"

Please, visit Emilio Nares Foundation  for more information.

THANK YOU

The ENF Board and Staff would like to thank every one that considered our organization and provided a donation to honor Mary Cappeta's Memory.  It is truly the celebration of a life filled with generosity, love and devotion. Her legacy lives through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Mary was the mother of Diane Nares,  co-founder and president of the Emilio Nares Foundation, and John Cappetta, ENF Board member.

Sincerely,

Richard Nares
