Stingaree's Evening Social

This
exceptional event was held on May 16. Many ENF friends came to show their support. Attendee's had and opportunity to enjoy a wonderfull evening atop a gaslamp district building in down town San Diego while enjoying  a few drinks and hors d'ouvres. None of this would have been possible without the extraordinary generosity and support of Stingaree's and its selfless staff.

Emilio's News
From the Director's Desk
Dear Richard,

As every month passes by, we continue to be positively  suprised by the kindness and charity that comes from unexpected people who often surround us yet sometimes go unrecognized. Therefore, we dedicate this issue to all those generous hearts who are so supportive of our cause and who continue to stay by our side. Thank You.

Knitting for Men

There is a long history of men who knit. In fact many historians agree that knitting probably began with men. The thinking goes that knitting grew out of the knitting of fishing nets.

Dad knittingAccording to The Complete Encyclopedia of Stitchery by Mildred Graves Ryan, most historians agree that knitting was probably spread by Arabian sailors and merchants who traveled throughout the Mediterranean. These were most likely male sailors. In fact there are a number of knit patterns that date back to these Arabian forebears.

In recent years, knitting among men is spreading more and more. Our program has experienced a few, like this Dad whose baby was born premature. The first week at the Hospital, he decided to learn to crochet to make a hat for the baby and joined our program...... So far he has made three hats for his baby.  He's been widely recognized as a dedicated father and outstanding knitter.
