A Message from Richard and

Emilio Cowboy

With the fast approaching holiday season, it is now time to sit and reflect on this year's events.

The sharp downturn in the economy has not only affected us nationally, but locally as well. Diane and I, and our ENF staff have felt the rising costs of living. Increases in food and fuel have been deeply felt by the families we serve. Our programs assist families with basic necessities such as; rent, food, fuel, and transportation. These needs are in greater demand now, than ever before.

We are very grateful to our sponsors, without  whom,  their generous support of our programs, ENF would not be able to continue. Program supporters such as MBE/UPS Foundation, the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos, and Wal-Mart have truly
made a difference in thousands of lives. Lastly, we want to thank all of our donors and hundreds of volunteers who gave their money and time to help make ENF a very special organization with a bright future.

Blessings to you all!

Tennis Clinic BISHOP SENIOR TAKES A SWING AT FUNDRAISING WITH TENNIS FOR EMILIO TENNIS CAMP

By Matt Liebowitz

With the help of her tennis player friends, Elizabeth Alexander, a senior at The Bishop School, is doing her part to raise money for a cause that hits very close to home.
Emilio Nares was a preschool friend of Alexander's little brother; when Emilio lost his battle with leukemia in October 2000, Elizabeth  was understandably saddened, but she also began to recognize how his death affected everyone around him.
Now eight years older, Alexander, a nationally-ranked tennis player and captain of The Bishop School varsity tennis team, is finally able to put her own talent to use and do something to help the Nares family and others facing similar struggles.
Elizabeth  held the Tennis for Emilio Children tennis clinic, at The Surf and Turf Tennis Club in Del Mar, the camp was open to kids ages 6-10; each $20 camp ticket went directly to the Emilio Nares Foundation.
In total, with additional donations, she raised  between $600 and $800. Money, Alexander said, is only part of the solution.
