Harvest for Hope
What's new?
LogoEating Nutritious Foods

In July ENF added a new program at Rady Children's Hospital. Each week 25 snack bags are delivered to the Hematology/ Oncology Infusion and Treatment rooms. These snacks contain water, low fat milk, fresh fruit, and whole grain crackers to serve children who often wait hours for treatment. Many parents with small children cannot leave their child's side. ENF snack bags provide a nutritious alternative to vending machine candy, cookies and soft drinks - another way ENF is introducing healthy eating Emilio's Snack Bag .

Dear Friend,

Welcome! to the first edition of the electronic ENF Monthly News letter. We are aiming to establish this medium as a way to reach more of you and to keep our current base of support more up to date with ENF's events, programs, and initiatives. We will also highlight how your contributions reach individual families; we'll share their stories. We hope this new outreach effort will let you all see first hand the results of your efforts.

 Dear Friends:

Our annual fundraiser,

"Harvest for Hope" is an event very dear to our hearts.  It is an event which came together from the loving efforts of some of San Diego's finest chefs & restaurant owners.

Once the Emilio Nares Foundation was created, the SD Food & Wine Community assured Richard and myself that they would be there to help us. This beautifully, elegant event is centered around Music, Food, Wine, & Art.

The efforts from all involved benefit the various programs of ENF, allowing them to grow, and serve many San Diego families.

This 3rd annual Labor Day event was host to over 100 children and their parents at Camp Marston in Julian. The four days of activities provided fun, relaxation and inspiration. It was also a time for the families to forget their worries and be with nature. A mother summed up her camp experience best: "Our family has felt the love, pampering and support of everyone. It has truly been a magical experience. Thank you."
Camp Agape (the Greek word for love) is sponsored by the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.

This report is a collective plan for cancer prevention, screening, navigation and systems of support for all cancer patients. During my conversation with Dr. Carmona, he had the highest praise for our organization. Here is a quote: "ENF's Ride with Emilio Program has made a tremendous impact in the cancer community."
I hope you will enjoy reading these notes from my desk. Our goal is to provide the latest information to our supporter's via-email. Our programs and services would not be possible without your generous donations.

Sincerely,

Richard Nares
