Many people do not realize that when a child relapses, their only hope for survival is a bone marrow transplant. If a donor match is not found within one's own family, the best chance of finding a non-related match is within the child's ethnic community. Minority populations are underrepresented on the National Marrow Donor Program registry. For this reason, ENF hosts 3 to 5 bone marrow registry drives each month in order to increase the number of minority individuals who may become life saving marrow donors. Through the efforts of ENF, nearly 4500 new potential donors have been added to the local San Diego Stem Cell Donor Center since 2003.
